Our Health program tries to encapsulate all that it takes to lead a healthy life, from improving the nutritional value of food to providing daily medical care and sanitation (including hand washing and clean drinking water).
Another great aim of the Friends of Education Welfare Trust is our ambitious health programs that will help thousands of children build a strong physical foundation for the rest of their lives. Our goal is to supplement school-going children with foods of high nutritional value, lunch – free of cost, at all our schools. Not only do the children have a dependable source of nutrition but this also increases our student retention rates, giving the pupils incentive to regularly attend classes.
Our clinics are staffed with at least one doctor present every day; treatment is free of cost and of no hassle to parents. Our clinics also actively work to create awareness within parents and children about routine hygiene, how to address symptoms of infection and how to avoid the spread of disease.
Nearly 80% of Pakistanis do not have access to clean, drinking water. This is an issue that should never be taken lightly, especially in our country where our resource of water shrinks every day. Friends of Education Trust have set up Reverse Osmosis / Water Purifying plants within Sindh. A single one of our plants cater to more than 600 people a day, absolutely free of cost- in areas where water was previously unavailable. This helps in minimizing the spread of deadly water-borne diseases including enteric fever.
